When taking part in an online course, people cannot see you and they also do not know you so there is need to be very careful in how we express ourselves because we do not want to hurt other people’s feelings. There is an old saying that says “think before you talk” which mostly referred to when people were meeting and having face to face interactions and we can apply this concept to the online learning situation where we can advice one another to “think before writing”

It is better not to respond to posts when you feel angry, make a note of what you want to say somewhere and come back to it later on when you have had time to calm down and reflect on the situation. Also, if a critique is necessary, say it in a positive way or tone, reread what you have written to be sure it is positive.
